REALM//TRADER

A trading dashboard that lives on your own computer — live markets, options analytics, and optional AI research, with nothing about it that runs without you asking it to.

Free · v0.2.20 · Windows 10/11 · no account, no signup

Illustration of the layout, not a live screenshot.

One screen for the whole session

Built by someone who trades, for the small group of people he trades with.

📈

Markets, live

Watchlist, positions, options chains and greeks, and a real TradingView chart — free data, no account required.

🧭

Explains itself

Every number on screen can tell you what it means. New to investing or twenty years in — the detail adjusts to you.

🔒

Yours, locally

Your positions, journal, and notes are stored on your machine. Nothing is uploaded because it's convenient for us — because it isn't ours.

Before you install — the honest version

A friend of ours asked good, hard questions before installing this. Here are the straight answers.

Nothing runs without you clicking it

There is exactly one exception — an optional daily research summary — and it is off by default. Turning it on requires an explicit checkbox during setup that tells you exactly when it runs. Everything else in the app only happens when you press a button.

Nothing is hidden while it runs

A tray icon sits in your taskbar the whole time the app is open, telling you plainly what's happening. Right-click it and choose Exit, and everything it started stops — completely.

Uninstalling actually removes it

The uninstaller is a standard Windows one (Settings → Apps), and it asks — plainly, before doing anything — whether to also delete your saved data. Say no and it's kept for a future reinstall; say yes and it's gone.

AI is optional, and it's your key, not ours

The dashboard works fully with live market data and zero AI. If you want the research agents, you bring your own API key from Claude, ChatGPT, or Grok, and every token spent is logged in a spend report inside the app — nothing billed to anyone but you, nothing hidden.

It needs Node.js — and asks first

The app runs on Node.js, a free, widely-used piece of software. If you don't already have it, setup shows you a plain checkbox before downloading it — nothing installs silently in the background.

You'll read and accept terms before it opens

First launch shows the actual Terms of Use and Privacy Statement — not a link you're trusting blindly, the real documents, in the app, before the dashboard appears. They say plainly what the software does and doesn't promise.

!

You may see a blue "Windows protected your PC" screen — here's what to click

This build doesn't carry a paid code-signing certificate yet, so Windows hasn't built up enough download history to recognize it. That's what triggers this screen — it's Windows saying "I don't know this file yet," not "this file did something bad." No virus was found; there's nothing to find, since nothing has actually scanned the app's behavior at all — SmartScreen is purely a reputation check.

To continue: click More info, then Run anyway. That's it. The only judgment call worth making is before that screen — make sure you got the installer from this exact page (myrealm.me/downloads), not a link someone sent you or a mirror somewhere else. That's true of any download, signed or not.

!

Rarer case: Windows can block it silently instead

If your PC has Windows' Smart App Control turned on, it can refuse to open the app entirely — no dialog, no "Run anyway," it just doesn't launch. Check Settings → Privacy & security → Windows Security → App & browser control if that happens. One real caution: Microsoft made that setting a one-way switch — off can't be undone without reinstalling Windows — so don't flip it just to test this.
